IRB and DUA checklist

IRB and DUA checklist

Team   Date

Two questions about the research idea you are proposing. A team that needs neither ticks "no" twice, says why, and signs. That is a complete sheet.

The question, in one line
1 · Does the project need an IRB application? Tick one, then the branch of Cornell's decision tree that says so: no people and no identifiable rows · existing data you cannot link to a living person · results stay with one organisation · yes, because you interact with people or hold identifiable rows and the results leave the course.

no yes ask irbhp@cornell.edu

If yes, the level you expect: exempt expedited full board  ·  and the draft goes to the advisor by

2 · Does any data source need a data-use agreement? One row per source. Public means anybody can download it. Licensed means Cornell pays for it and its terms apply (WRDS, Compustat, Dewey, the library databases). Restricted means a firm or an agency holds it and nothing moves until an agreement is signed.

This is a statement, not a worksheet, which is why every member signs it. Into the envelope before you leave. If question 1 is yes or ask: every member's CITI human-participants training certificate on Canvas before meeting 6, Wednesday September 30.
